Events of the portal

Bangladesh's National Information Window (www.bangladesh.gov.bd) is one of the largest government web portals in the world with over 25,000 websites and 42,000 government offices. The national information window is being considered as a convenient way for citizens to get information and services from government offices in a short time without harassment. About 150 e-services like birth-death registration, utility bill payment, passport application, tax payment, download of government forms are included in this information window. More than 20 lakh content, more than 45 thousand pictures of historical monuments and antiquities and e-directory rich in information of 6 lakh government officials and employees have been added to the national information window.


The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Award is considered a major recognition of initiative and implementation in the field of information technology. The World Summit on the Information Society is working to change the socio-economic condition of the people through information and communication technology and to develop creative innovative initiatives worldwide. This year, besides the national information window, another initiative of the A2I project, "Teacher Window" was nominated in the 4th category. It is worth mentioning that the “Digital Center” established by the A2I project to provide door-to-door services to the people won the WSIS Award 2014.
