Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district is known as a significant business center. The Jibannagar market is very big. As the largest agricultural farm in Asia, Duttnagar Agricultural Farm is located not far from Jibannagar city, this upazila has always been playing a significant role in agricultural production. This upazila is known all over the country as a rice trading center. Jibannagar Bazaar has large warehouses and shops for agricultural and other businesses. There are many showrooms for TVs, refrigerators, motorcycles and other vehicles of different companies. Jibannagar Paddy Market is very big. On the day of the market, the whole city is filled with carts of paddy and other crops. Rice traders from different parts of the country buy paddy from this market. Large rice huts have sprung up here. The rice produced is exported to different districts of the country and abroad every day. Lots of date palms grow in this upazila. Plenty of date molasses is also produced. The juice of date palm in this region is very sweet and delicious. Molasses produced from its extracted juice has been exported to the country and abroad on a commercial basis since the distant past.
Lately, the poultry industry of Jibannagar Upazila has expanded. Poultry farms have been set up in the villages on the initiative of individuals. In addition to this, there is a trend of significant development of cattle fattening business in different areas. The poor and middle class people of the village are seen to be financially profitable by buying 1/2 small calves at home and selling them fat and fresh. Due to this, the tendency of keeping cows has decreased a lot lately. The country's famous poshu market is located in this upazila.
Upazila is a border upazila. The process of reopening the Changkhali land port, which was closed after independence, is underway. Jibannagar is very close to Benapole or Darshana port in Kolkata, India. Since the Changkhali land port was once in operation, there has been a wide international standard road for communication between the two countries through this port. If the port is reopened, it can be expected that this upazila will become one of the business hubs of the country.
